JEWELRY FASHION INDUSTRY RESEARCH CENTER

 

Jewelry Fashion Industry Research Center (JFIRC) is a specialized research and teaching institute, which was initiated to keep pace with the rapid development of International economic industrial chains and luxury industries. The present director of JFIRC is Associate Professor SHI Jian.

 

The jewelry specialty of SJTU was founded in 1993, that makes SJTU the earliest college with a jewelry specialty. SJTU’s jewelry specialty possesses distinctive features, a wide range of professional courses, and has made broad influence on jewelry industry. The mission of the specialty is to train and educate specialized talents in jewelry fashion design, jewelry appraisal and jewelry trade. Besides teaching activities, JFIRC is active in jewelry-related research. The research achievements have won Shanghai Science and Technology Award. Moreover, JFIRC takes the responsibility to set national vocational qualification standards of jewelry industry.

 

Since the establishment, JFIRC has been dedicated to international communication. It has established close collaboration relationships with jewelry education organizations from U.S., U.K., Italy, Japan, South Korea and Thailand. Moreover, it successfully held a series of international forums and conferences, such as International Jewelry Fashion Design Forum, Emerald Forum, China-Korea Jewelry Technical Report Meeting, and Shanghai Jewelry Fashion Trends Seminar. In recent years, JFIRC initiated a joint program with Gem Institute of America to educate International jewelry researchers at SJTU.

 

The vision of JFIRC is to comprehensively advance jewelry fashion design research, enhance interdisciplinary development, and nurture talents in jewelry and creative industry.
