SMC Holds 2025 Graduate Commencement and Degree Conferral Ceremony
On March 28, the School of Media and Communication held its grand 2025 Graduate Commencement and Degree Conferral Ceremony, themed "A Youthful Journey in Media, A Future Full of Promise," in the school's first-floor auditorium. Attendees included Secretary of the Party Committee of the SMC Peng Dayin, Executive Vice Dean (presiding) Xu Jian, Deputy Party Secretaries Chang Heshan and Wang Jiaying, Vice Dean Mou Yi, Chair of the Film and Television Department Yang Yishu, faculty representatives from various disciplines, graduate class advisors, staff from the student and academic affairs offices, as well as all 2025 graduate students and their families. The ceremony was hosted bilingually by Li Shuting from the Journalism and Communication Department and Wang Jiaying from the Film and Television Department, both 2025 master's graduates.

Xu Jian addressed the graduates with a speech titled "Stay Brave and Kind, Do What Is Difficult Yet Right." He emphasized that kindness is the foundation of media professionals and a compass for courageous progress. He encouraged graduates to uphold journalistic ideals and humanistic care, pursue truth with professionalism, and spread warmth with kindness.

Feng Congxuan, a 2025 master's graduate in Journalism and Communication; Fan Ling, a 2025 master's graduate in Cultural Industry Management; and Letwin Tawira, a doctoral graduate in Journalism and Communication, shared their graduation reflections as student representatives.
As a parting gift, the school prepared customized graduation presents for each graduate, hoping they would carry the school's hopes and trust forward, overcoming obstacles and challenges.

Peng Dayin delivered a farewell message to the graduates, offering three pieces of advice: first, cherish the beautiful memories and heartfelt farewells; second, ascend step by step and embark on new journeys; and third, aim high while staying grounded. He encouraged graduates to uphold the spirit of serving the nation, showcase the excellence of SJTU students in their respective fields, and realize their dreams in media.
The ceremony concluded with all attendees standing to sing the university anthem. The School of Media and Communication's 2025 Graduate Commencement and Degree Conferral Ceremony came to a successful close.
